About the Austin Catering Guide
The Austin Catering Guide is a directory of catering businesses in and around Austin, Texas. It is run by one person, not a company, and it exists because searching for a caterer here mostly turns up lead-generation forms that sell your phone number to whoever paid the most that morning.
How listings get here
Every listing was read off the caterer's own website by hand. Nothing is scraped from review sites, and no listing is generated automatically. If a caterer publishes per-person pricing, that number is on their page here. If they don't, the page says "pricing on request" rather than inventing a range — catering quotes genuinely depend on headcount, service style and date.
Each listing records the page it was checked against and the date it was checked. Links go straight to the caterer's own site. There is no form in between, and this site does not take a commission on anything you book.
What gets left out
A business needs a working website that describes catering service to be listed. Restaurants with no catering offering aren't here. Neither are catering marketplaces and lead-resellers — ezCater, ZeroCater, Thumbtack and the rest are not caterers. A handful of listings are chains that started here and still cater here, Chuy's and Torchy's among them; they are listed on the same terms as everyone else.
How the site pays for itself
Caterers can pay to be featured at the top of a category page. Featured listings are labelled as featured, everywhere they appear, and they never change what is said about anybody else. Ordinary listings are free and always will be — the free listings are what make the guide worth reading.
Nothing here is an affiliate link. No caterer pays a commission on anything you book, and no outbound link earns this site money. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page where it happens and on this one.
The site counts page views and clicks through to caterers, using its own code and no cookies, so that caterers can be quoted real numbers rather than claims. The privacy page says exactly what that means.
A note on the name
This site is not affiliated with Austin Catering, a separate and long-running catering company at austincatering.com. The similarity is in the domain names only. Austin Catering is listed in this guide the same way every other qualifying caterer is.
Corrections
Wrong phone number, closed business, changed prices? Send a correction through the contact page. Corrections are free and get made quickly — an out-of-date directory is a useless one.
